Mold Testing & Removal Services

Homes, commercial, and government structures are more airtight than ever. This may save energy, but it also confines moisture and mold spores which allows molds to germinate and grow on moist surfaces.

The US EPA lists mold dangers bluntly: "...exposure to molds can cause symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin irritation. Some people, such as those with serious allergies to molds, may have more severe reactions. These reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Some people with chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may even develop mold infections in their lungs." Severe reactions may also occur among workers exposed to large amounts of molds in occupational settings, such as farmers working around moldy hay.

Mold health issues require cleanup of the mold problem and killing the mold to eliminate the toxic mold health effects. There are over 46,000 species of molds, but the most common are black, green and white.

Spanos Environmental offers:

Spanos Environmental offers three levels of mold testing services. After reading through our services, please feel free to call us if you aren’t sure which one is right for you

Mold Testing Services

Mold Surveys

Mold surveys are frequently ordered by homeowners who know or suspect the presence of mold. It will detect the presence of any microbial problem in readily accessible areas of the property by following prescribed mold testing protocols.

Our mold survey service includes but is not limited to Air sample, Tape Lift samples, Swab Samples, and/or Bulk Samples.

Environmental Mold And Mycotoxin Assessment (EMMA)

This Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment uses sensitive molecular detection technology to look for the presence of 10 of the most toxigenic molds AND 15 of the most poisonous mycotoxins. It determines their presence and determines their relative abundance. EMMA also tests directly for 15 of the most poisonous Mycotoxins using its patented

Mycotoxin detection test. This test provides a comprehensive environmental diagnostic of not only which molds you are being exposed to but also

Environmental Relative Moldiness Index testing (ERMI testing)

Mold Testing in Homes Utilizing Advanced DNA Testing Techniques. Spanos Environmental provides the EPA’s ERMI testing methodology to help protect families from the hazards of exposure to elevated levels of fungi. Exposure to elevated levels of mold can trigger asthma episodes in sensitive individuals, allergic reactions, and even cause fungal infections in people with compromised immune systems.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) testing

Volatile Organic Compounds, or VOCs, are chemicals that are emitted as gases from solids or liquids and easily evaporated into the air at room temperature.

While all VOCs have the potential to be harmful, there are a few common VOCs that can be particularly dangerous, and are emitted from a number of products in our homes. These common VOCs are formaldehyde, benzene, and phenol, and are classified as Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Formaldehyde Testing

The air in many new and remodeled homes contains enough formaldehyde to cause illness.

Formaldehyde causes respiratory irritation, and it is an asthma trigger. It is especially important for persons with asthma to avoid high concentrations of formaldehyde.

A homeowner can do basic testing for formaldehyde. An industrial hygienist can do more comprehensive exposure assessment. Our specialists are trained in exposure assessment, and they can identify trace contaminants in a home. Services of a CIEA- NORMI Certified Indoor Environmental Advisor. are appropriate when a person has serious health issues and a physician suspects chemical exposure is the cause.

Water Testing

Water Testing Services' main purpose is to provide water testing of private wells for financing and refinancing via VA, FHA, or USDA loans. When applying for a loan through one of these institutions, a private well must be checked for coliform germs. When it comes to loans and refinancing, why is water testing required?

The coliform test also determines whether or not e. coli and fecal coliform are present. For Nitrates and Lead, extra sample is sometimes required. Confirm what is required with your lender or realtor. Find out more about the various pollutants that we test for.

Some folks simply wish to test their well to ensure that the water is safe to drink.

Regular testing of private supplies is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Department of Health.

Private wells should be tested at least once a year, and more frequently if the well has a history of contamination, according to the CDC and the Florida Department of Health.

Bacteria Testing

Spanos Environmental provides bacteria testing services for Total and Fecal Coliform, E. coli, Fecal Streptococcus, and Enterococcus on surface areas utilizing swab samples, as well as water samples in waste water and sewage.

Bacteria come in a wide variety of forms in the environment. The majority of bacteria are harmless, however some are harmful and can cause serious health problems.

E. coli and Streptococcus strains are two common examples of such bacteria. These bacteria are frequently connected with sewage episodes following flooding.
Food poisoning or illness outbreaks can occur as a result of poor hygiene in these circumstances, which can be catastrophic and costly. Bacterial contamination in occupied environments should be avoided at all costs.

In other businesses, such as healthcare or food preparation, as well as in the household, bacterial contamination is more serious.

Allergens Testing

The Spanos Environmental network is an environmental testing and consulting firm based in Bradenton, Florida that provides allergen and dust mite testing services.

Allergen testing determines the amount of indoor pollutants that could be causing allergic reactions or other symptoms. Sneezing, eye discomfort, headaches, exhaustion, and respiratory issues are all symptoms of allergic exposure at the home or office.

The allergy evaluation provided by Spanos Environmental assists in identifying and removing the source of allergic exposure. Understanding the current situation allows for improvements in the indoor environment that promote health and wellness. An allergy evaluation report will be supplied, along with recommendations and solutions for enhancing indoor environmental quality.

Infrared Testing

Infrared Thermography is a technology that generates an image of infrared light released by objects as a result of radiated heat that is normally invisible to the naked eye. These temperature fluctuations can be detected using specialized thermal imaging cameras, which could indicate the cause of a possible problem, such as moisture in your walls, the presence of a mold colony, and more.

A thermal imaging camera can identify variances in materials that would appear as distinct in a thermal image since items are rarely the same temperature as other objects surrounding them.

Radon Testing

Radon gas is released into the atmosphere as a result of the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. The gas is a type of ionizing radiation that has been demonstrated to cause cancer.

Radon testing is a straightforward procedure.

A short-term test using charcoal canisters is the most popular form of radon testing. Radon tests are commonly performed during the selling or purchase of a home. As a result, realtors must receive test results as soon as possible.
